After a lengthy "off" season we finally ran some laps at Eastern Creek on January 16th.

Rather than an open test day, Mark Lowing and his MNR Vortx RT+ took part in CAMS innaugral Come & Try day. This is a great initiative by the governing body, allowing newcomers considering motorsport to take a close look at what's involved. Every discipline was represented including demonstration events  in supersprinting, racing, drifitng, motorkhana & offroad. Best of all everyone who registered had the opportunity to take their own car onto the track, with an instructor, to see what it's like on the other side of the fence!

It's estimated over 200 people took up the offer, and judging by the response CAMS have created a great promotional tool for our sport.

As always the MNR created a lot of interest in the display area, most people surprised by the compact Yamaha powerplant. They were even more impressed after the supersprint demonstration where Mark worked his way past the whole field to take the chequered flag.

So while it wasn't a true test day, at least we know the tweaks incorporated into the car during the break have worked.

Here's hoping the CAMS Come & Try day becomes a January tradition.

Autosport International NEC Birmingham 13-16th January

Renowned worldwide as one of the most important motorsport shows, MNR's stand at this year's event took advantage of the expected 80,000 visitors. Held over four days at the NEC in Birmingham, the first two days cater to the motorsport trade, with the public admitted on Saturday & Sunday.

Everything from current F1 machinery to club level racing is on display. Imagine a car show only for motorsport, larger than the Sydney Internaional Motor Show and you get the idea. And if you're in the market for the latest manufacturing machinery, motorsport hardware or software, then you'll find it somewhere at Autosport.

MNR's stand included the just completed LMP, Vortx RT+ and even the "Mini-me" Vortx electric powered child's car.

If you love motorsport & don't mind the cold & snow of a UK winter, then Autosport International is something you have to see at least once.
